Family Law 101 Webinar 14 - Property - Business Structures Part 2 - Companies (60-day access)

Business structures can have a major impact on family law property matters, especially when a business has value, generates income, or affects tax outcomes. This course is designed to help junior lawyers, paralegals, law students, and support staff build confidence in understanding how companies work in practice, and why they matter in family law cases.

Companies are among the most common and most misunderstood structures encountered in family law. This session takes a deep dive into private companies: the roles of directors, secretaries and shareholders, how to read ASIC searches, how salaries, director's fees and franked dividends flow through to a client's income, how company financial statements work, and how company value, disclosure and debt exposure are approached when a marriage or de facto relationship breaks down.
